You learn something new every day

I'm glad we have a hockey mom to teach us civics. Not only didn't I know that the Vice President runs the Senate, I didn't even know that the First Amendment is there to protect officials from criticism by reporters.

Of course, I don't feel too bad about my ignorance, since Jefferson (who said that he'd rather have newspaper but no government than government with no newspapers) seems to have shared it.

How do you think Sara Palin feels about her ignorance? More important, how do educated independent and Republican voters feel about it?

Clearly, Larry Eagleburger had it right the first time: not only is Palin not ready to be President now, she never will be ready. But, consistent with his political principles, Eagleburger decided to retract the truth and replace it with the politically correct lie.

That's it. If you read Madison's notes and the Federalists Papers its relatively clear there was never any intention for the Vice President to http://www.odlotowewakacje.com have an active role in the senate. As much as Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin would like to imagine.

The Constitution says the Vice President PRESIDES over the senate, not participating in actual legislation, but serving as the tie breaking vote in the case that it should be necessary. That's it. If you read Madison's notes and the Federalists Papers its relatively clear there was never any intention for the Vice President to have an active role in the senate. As much as Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin would like to imagine.

Jeff says:

I mean I understand where she's comming from in a sense, I don't think she meant it quite the way it's being depicted, but the Media is supposed to report unbiased news. That seems to have gone out the window more and more every year, I don't think any of us can question that the media immediatly hops on anything she says wrong, if that were the case for any of us we'd be percieved the same way, I sure know I say some silly things at times. Last I checked she was running as VP? I don't understand how we're so focused on her as President, personally I don't think she'd be ready at this moment to be president but I'm sure if the time came she could step up. I don't think Obama is a good candidate, at least not in my eyes and he's running for president, so I'm more focused on the Candidates for President than their running mates.

Alec says:

Read the Constitution. It explicitly states that the Vice President presides over the Senate. The Constitution does not define any other role for the Vice President. Apparently Sarah Palin, unqualified as you claim she is, understands the Constitution better than you do.
