Jessica Cosby

Jessica Cosby is competing in the hammer throw in Beijing as a member of the U.S. Olympic team. Participating in track and field meets since she was a young child in the San Fernando Valley, she picked up this ancient, little-known sport, which debuted at the Olympics in 2000, while in college at UCLA. She improved steadily, earning All-American honors and setting Pac-10 records. She set a national Olympic trials record with a 232-foot throw on her first attempt.
