Jonathan Lee started Swipes for the Homeless, a donation drive which encourages UCLA students living in the residence halls to use their unused meal swipes to purchase food for Los Angeles' homeless population. He has also been involved in working to prevent domestic violence, registering Latino voters for the 2008 election and raising money for children whose parents died in the earthquake in China in 2008.
