UCLA Anderson conference explores business trends shaping Africa's growing economy
WHAT:
The UCLA Anderson School of Management's second annual Africa Growth Conference, "Africa: An Emerging Giant," brings together business leaders, professionals and academics to discuss the trends shaping Africa's growth and the key drivers moving the continent forward.
The conference will explore emerging opportunities for business and investment, Africa's next big industries and the crucial role advisers play in helping individuals secure financing, navigate legal systems and find trade partners.
The event is sponsored by UCLA Anderson's Center for Global Management and UCLA's African Studies Center and is organized by UCLA Anderson's African American Students in Management, International Business Association and Net Impact.

Dwayne Gathers: Africa Economic Overview
Gathers is founder, president and CEO of Gathers Strategies Inc., a strategic business development and government relations advisory services practice. A former special assistant to the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, he was a consultant to the South Africa Democracy Support project funded by U.S. AID and a UN election observer for South Africa's 1994 elections.
Tom Epley: Africa Interaction — Opportunities and Risks
Epley is a partner at the private equity firm Vance Street Capital and author of "The Plague of Good Intentions," an analysis of the influence of foreign aid and involvement on sub-Saharan cultures.
