Center for Near Eastern Studies hosts symposium on human rights in Gaza

WHAT:
Leading academics will discuss the human rights situation in Gaza at UCLA's "Human Rights and Gaza" symposium, hosted by the UCLA Center for Near Eastern Studies and the International Institute at UCLA.
WHO:
The event, which will be moderated by Center for Near Eastern Studies director Susan Slyomovics, will feature the following speakers:

Visiting professor of global and international studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara; professor emeritus of international law and practice at Princeton University; United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian Territories; author of "Achieving Human Rights" (2009) and "Costs of War: International Law, the UN, and World Order After Iraq" (2008).Lisa Hajjar
Associate professor and chair of the Law and Society Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara; author of "Courting Conflict: The Israeli Military Court System in the West Bank and Gaza" (2005).Saree Makdisi
