UCLA faculty experts advisory: Obama becomes first U.S. president to visit Cambodia

After stops in Thailand and Myanmar, President Obama has landed in Phnom Penh for a historic visit in which he will meet with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen; visit with Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian leaders; and attend the East Asian Summit. UCLA has experts.

Kantathi Suphamongkhon, a senior fellow at UCLA's Burkle Center for International Relations and an expert on East Asia, is the former foreign minister of Thailand. A longtime diplomat, he also represented Thailand at the United Nations and served as a foreign affairs adviser to both the prime minister and the speaker of the Thai House of Representatives.
