UCLA faculty experts advisory: Political violence grips Ukrainian capital

Clashes today between protesters at odds with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and riot police in Kiev have left at least 15 people dead. UCLA has an expert.
Daniel Treisman, eprofessor of political science, is an expert on politics, democratic transitions, the political economy of development, and political corruption in Russia and the states of the former Soviet Union. The author of "After the Deluge: Regional Crises and Political Consolidation in Russia," he teaches courses on the political and economic systems of Russia and Eastern Europe and the political economy of reform.
