Raustiala, professor of law and director of the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations, writes and teaches in the areas of international law and international relations. He holds a joint appointment at the UCLA School of Law and the UCLA International Institute, where he teaches in the Program on Global Studies.
Varat, professor of law, teaches courses on constitutional law, federal courts and the separation of powers. He was awarded the UCLA School of Law 's Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1990. He served twice as associate dean of the law school and as its dean from 1998 to 2003. Varat is co-author of a major constitutional law casebook, "Constitutional Law: Cases and Materials," and is an expert on federal courts. His scholarship focuses primarily on constitutional federalism.
