UCLA has been named one of the nation's top military-friendly universities in the 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities published by Military Advanced Education.
The new guide, now available online, provides potential students with information about institutions that go above and beyond to give back to those who have served in the U.S. armed forces.
This year's guide evaluated institutions of higher education based on a number of attributes, including the flexibility of their online learning options, the extent of transfer credits accepted, the on-campus presence of ROTC, participation in the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges program, assistance to active duty military members and veterans on campus, support for service members' families, the number of faculty members trained in veteran reintegration issues and the number of full-time counselors trained in veteran-specific mental health concerns.
"Our staff used strict criteria to evaluate the submissions of the respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year," said Kelly Fodel, editor of Military Advanced Education. "We believe the guide serves as an invaluable tool for both education-services officers and transition officers when advising service members about their educational opportunities."
There are several options for viewing the guide: through a searchable online database, through an online version of the print publication or by picking up a copy of the December issue of Military Advanced Education.
