UCLA Ph.D. Student Wins Prestigious International Award for Best Dissertation in Information Systems


Anderson School doctoral student Sabine Hirt is the winner of the InternationalConference on Information Systems (ICIS) 1999 Doctoral Dissertation Award,presented Dec. 13, 1999, at the conference meeting in Charlotte, N.C.

The award goes to the outstanding dissertation in the field of informationsystems among those completed worldwide between July 1998 and June 1999.It carries a prize of $3000.

Hirt's dissertation examines the "Dynamics of Media Choice Behaviorin Multinational Organizations." Her committee was chaired by AndersonSchool Professor E. Burton Swanson, and included Anderson assistant ProfessorElaine Mosakowski, Anderson Professor Jose De La Torre, and UCLA educationProfessor Wellford Wilms. Hirt is now an assistant professor at the CityUniversity of Hong Kong.
