UCLA’s beach volleyball team won its second consecutive NCAA title on Sunday afternoon in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The victory is UCLA’s 117th national championship.

The Bruins, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, defeated the top-seeded University of Southern California 3-0 in the championship round. UCLA finished the season with a 35-3 record.

The squad opened the day with juniors Madi Yeomans and Savvy Simo winning their match on court four, 21-16, 21-19, and the team of senior Izzy Carey and freshman Lindsey Sparks earning a 21-16, 21-15 victory on court five.

Then, in the championship-clinching victory on court three, senior Zana Muno and freshman Abby Van Winkle triumphed, 22-20, 21-13. The pairs of Muno and Van Winkle and Carey and Sparks were named to the NCAA all-tournament team.
