UCLA police have released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted sexual assault that occurred on campus Jan. 7.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned Caucasian male with short dark hair, approximately 30 to 35 years old, 5'10" to 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He is reported to have been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The crime occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, on a walkway between Parking Structure 9 and the Engineering 4 building. The victim, a UCLA student, was walking eastbound when the suspect exited the parking structure and approached her from behind, then grabbed and threatened her. She broke free, and the suspect fled on foot.

UCLA police remind students and other members of the campus community to take common-sense steps to protect their safety. For example, avoid walking alone at night, be aware of your surroundings and use the community service officer escort service.
Police also urge students to call 911 if there is an immediate threat and recommend that students program into their mobile phones the department's phone number, 310-825-1491, and use it to report suspicious activities or individuals.
