UCLA statement about upcoming strike

Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), which represents service workers and patient care technical workers at UCLA, plan to strike from Monday, May 7 until early on Thursday, May 10. Members of the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) and the California Nurses Association (CNA) plan to join AFSCME in a sympathy strike on May 8 and May 9.

In anticipation of the strike, campus units have developed contingency plans to remain open and provide regular services to our students, faculty and staff. Similarly, UCLA Health’s first priority is to provide safe, high-quality care, and contingency plans have been developed to ensure that its hospitals and clinics continue to serve the needs of its patients and the community.

It is possible that some minor disruptions to some nonessential campus services may occur, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of the campus community.
