UPDATE: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power repairs were largely complete Wednesday morning after a city water main broke near UCLA, causing no damage to campus and no loss of water to university buildings.
Veteran Avenue remained open as of 5 p.m. Tuesday despite a water main break at Veteran and Strathmore Drive. UCLA officials are in contact with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and water running down the street is not expected to cause any flooding or property damage to the campus.
A short stretch of Strathmore is temporarily closed to traffic, and commuters may experience slow-downs on Veteran.
As of 5 p.m., UCLA Facilities Management plumbers had bypassed the leak to restore water service to all campus buildings. DWP repairs to the water main are expected to cut off water service to some buildings for a few hours later this evening. The area between Strathmore, Veteran, and Kinross and Gayley avenues is expected to be affected by the temporary outage.
