Nearly 2,000 UCLA alumni and friends are expected to gather on campus this Saturday (May 18) to participate in the annual UCLA Alumni Day, which will feature speeches and activities for professional networking and personal growth.
The day is scheduled to kick off at 10:15 a.m. at Pauley Pavilion with a keynote address delivered by venture capitalist and class of 1979 alumnus Guy Kawasaki. His speech, titled "The Art of Enchantment," will focus on how people can "enchant" others to build a relationship based on likability, trust and confidence.
Next will be Bruin Talks — 20-minute speeches by alums and faculty on topics ranging from entrepreneurship to personal redefinition to the evolving modern family. There are three Bruin Talk tracks and each will end with presentations focusing on the wisdom of legendary basketball coach John Wooden and his Pyramid of Success.
The Bruin Networking Expo will conclude the day’s activities. During the networking event, alumni will have the opportunity to make connections with fellow alumni and potential employers. Exhibitors including Disney, Raytheon, Startup UCLA, UCLA Anderson School, UCLA Extension, Wooden Way Success Workshop, Y&S Nazarian Family Foundation and more will be present during the expo. Volunteers will be among the crowd to encourage participants to connect with one another.
UCLA Alumni Day ends at 2 p.m., but special exhibits, extended hours and campus attractions have been planned at the Fowler, the Hammer, Geffen Playhouse, UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame, Henry Samueli School of Engineering, and more.
Advanced registration is closed, but walkup registration will be available. For a complete list of UCLA Alumni Day and campus activities and information about directions and parking, check out the 2013 UCLA Alumni Day website.
