UCLA basketball legend Bill Walton took on dual roles during the Jan. 27 telecast of the men’s basketball team’s game against Stanford. Not only was he the color commentator for the Pac-12 Network coverage of the game — which the Bruins won, 89-73 — but Walton also assumed the role of cheerleader for UCLA’s sustainability initiatives.
Hours before the game, UCLA staff members gave Walton a tour of the campus, highlighting the bike share program and other sustainability initiatives — from UCLA Dining’s tower gardens to solar-powered charging stations — and telling him all about the Sustainable LA Grand Challenge. Walton, who speaks often about his passion for sustainability, enthusiastically shared a recap and photos with viewers during the telecast that night. Above, a few images from his tour.
