Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti thanks city workers who repaired a sinkhole in Sunset Boulevard created by last week's water main break.

Crews worked over the weekend to complete the removal of nearly 1,000 vehicles from parking structures flooded by last week's water main break on Sunset Boulevard.

Those vehicles with the most serious water intrusion — approximately 340 — have been relocated to the vicinity of Jackie Robinson Stadium on the West Los Angeles campus of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

UCLA Transportation officials are asking owners to stay away until receiving detailed information today about vehicle pickup on Tuesday. To expedite the claims process, campus officials are arranging for representatives of insurance companies and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to be on hand.

Operable vehicles have been relocated to UCLA Parking Lot 36, where drivers began reclaiming them on Friday. Drivers that have not been able to retrieve their vehicles at Lot 36 should call Parking Programs at 310-206-3884 or email news@ts.UCLA.edu.

Parking Structures 4 and 7 at UCLA remain closed. Parking permit holders have been provided temporary permits for other campus locations.

Pauley Pavilion, Wooden Center, Morgan Center and Acosta Center also remain closed as cleanup continues. Portions of Wooden Center are scheduled to open Tuesday.

Officials asked people to avoid closed areas.

Monday, the campus announced that it had developed a loan-assistance program for UCLA employees and students whose vehicles were damaged in the flood; those needing emergency loans are required to first complete an emergency loan survey. More information about that program and a list of other resources for employees affected by the flooding are posted on the Campus Human Resources website.

Sunset Boulevard re-opened to traffic early Monday. City officials asked drivers to use caution in the area. Sunset between Hilgard and Veteran avenues is scheduled for closure during overnight hours Friday and Saturday as final repairs continue.
