'Fragments of Extinction'

UCLA Social Sciences and the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music will present "Fragments of Extinction: An Environmental Sound-Art Project on the Acoustic Biodiversity of Rainforests" on Thursday, Feb. 26, 5:30 p.m. at the California NanoSystems Institute. The project was created by David Monacchi, a professor of electro-acoustic music at the Pesaro Conservatory in Italy. He uses high-quality sound equipment to capture the sounds of equatorial rain forests and observes those sounds lost to extinction.

Also taking part in the presentation will be UCLA's Daniela Cusack, a professor of geography; Susan Perry, a professor of anthropology; and Timothy Taylor, a professor of ethnomusicology. To find more information and RSVP to this event, visit the UCLA Social Sciences website.
