Los Angeles police arrested 12 protesters accused of blocking Westwood and Wilshire boulevards in Westwood Village on Wednesday afternoon. The streets reopened about 3:30 p.m.
The protesters were arrested on suspicion of failure to disperse and taken to the LAPD's West Los Angeles station for processing. All 12 were believed to be UCLA undergraduate or graduate students, police said.
The protesters who sat in the intersection expressed concern about income inequities, the role of banks and the future of public education, among other issues.
More than 100 protesters had rallied in Bruin Plaza on campus about noon before making their way south on Westwood Boulevard, stopping at banks along the way.
