Ruptured gas line forces brief evacuation of Sproul Hall, Delta Terrace

UCLA campus officials briefly evacuated a portion of the Sproul Hall and Delta Terrace residence halls due to a gas leak at a construction site.
A BruinAlert text message was sent at approximately 10:35 a.m. advising members of the campus community to stay clear of the area.
Campus fire officials received a report of gas leak at approximately 9:49 a.m. The leak was caused when construction crew ruptured a 2-inch natural gas line near the Sproul Hall turnaround.

Approximately 800 students were evacuated from Sproul and 200 from Delta Terrace.
Shortly after 11 a.m., students were allowed to return to both residence halls.
