Beginning Saturday, Aug. 3, the northbound I-405 off-ramp to Sunset Boulevard will be closed until mid-December for construction of a longer and wider off-ramp.
The closure begins at 1 a.m. and will be in effect 24 hours a day. The new ramp is scheduled to re-open on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 a.m.
The recommended detour for northbound traffic coming to UCLA is to exit the 405 onto eastbound Wilshire Boulevard, turn left on Veteran Avenue and right on Sunset Boulevard.
Sepulveda Boulevard will operate at full capacity during peak traffic hours (6-9 a.m. and 3-10 p.m. on weekdays).
But during daytime off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Sepulveda Boulevard between Montana and Moraga will be reduced to one lane in each direction. That stretch of Sepulveda Boulevard will be entirely closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
When the new off-ramp opens it will feature 60 percent more capacity to store vehicles and segregate traffic from Sunset Boulevard and the I-405.The new Sunset off-ramp configuration will feature two northbound right-turn lanes to eastbound Sunset and one northbound left-turn lane to westbound Sunset.
