Simmons is chief operating officer of the Los Angeles Sparks basketball team and a 1998 graduate of UCLA. She gave the keynote speech at the 2015 Black Convocation hosted by the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies and cosponsored by other UCLA departments and organizations.
