Chin, a Ph.D. student at UCLA, has created a startup with a friend that offers an app to make taking class attendance easy for instructors while helping students keep track of course requirements and deadlines. The higher the attendance, the larger the donation the startup makes to a nonprofit that helps tutor and mentor homeless K-12 youth.
