Karolyn Smith and retired Army Specialist  Micah Krogstad stand with retired U.S. Army General Pete Chiarelli, who was vice chief of staff of the Army and led the Department of Defense's efforts on post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and suicide prevention, and Patti Taylor, volunteer nurse coordinator for Operation Mend.

Chiarelli is also an executive adviser to the Ronald A. Katz Center for Collaborative Military Medicine at UCLA.
