Bruins and off-campus visitors tooled around north campus on Tuesday in Teslas and other electric vehicles during UCLA's Drive an Electric Vehicle event, part of National Drive Electric Week. Guests test-drove the Nissan LEAF, Chevy Volt and a Zero motorcycle, among others, and talked to experts to learn the pros, cons and logistics of owning electric vehicles. Also on display were golf carts, cars, vans and other vehicles that make up UCLA's fleet, 48.5 percent of which use some form of alternative fuel. The event was hosted by UCLA Transportation, Plug In America and UCLA’s Smart Grid Energy Research Center.
