Julia Koerner, a lecturer in the department of architecture and urban design, received the Rising Star Award at the Global 3d Printing Awards, given by the 3d Print Show London 2014.
The award recognizes Koerner for her innovative work in using 3D printing software to produce clothing. Beginning with artistic couture pieces meant only for the runway, she gone on to create ready-to-wear clothes.
“Julia’s work is at the convergence of fashion design, architecture, and industrial design – realized by innovative and intelligent use of additive manufacturing (3D Printing) and robotics," read this press release from Global 3d Printing in announcing the award.
