Katherine Stone, the Arjay and Frances Fearing Miller Distinguished Professor at UCLA School of Law, has been named the recipient of the 2017 Bob Hepple Award for Lifetime Achievement in Labor Law by the Labor Law Research Network.
The network, an international group created in 2011 to advance scholarship in labor law, recognizes awardees for their exceptional contributions to the field.
Professor Stone is a leading expert in labor and employment law in the United States. Her books include "From Widgets to Digits: Employment Regulation for the Changing Workplace" (Cambridge University Press, 2004), which won the 2005 Micheal Harrington Award from the American Political Science Association. She has written several other books as well as numerous articles on topics including the changing nature of work, globalization and labor law, employment contracts and arbitration law.
Stone was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship Award in 2008 and a Russell Sage Fellowship for 2008-2009 for her work on the changing nature of employment and the implications of those changes for employment regulation. She has been a member of the UCLA Law faculty since 2004.
Stone will receive the award at the network's conference at the University of Toronto in June.
