Neil Garg, professor of chemistry at UCLA, was recently honored as an American Chemical Society Fellow.

The American Chemical Society works to promote public policies that advance the chemistry enterprise and its practitioners. The Fellow of the American Chemical Society designation is awarded to members who have made exceptional contributions to the science or profession and have provided excellent volunteer service to the society.

Garg has been on UCLA faculty since 2007 and has developed interactive online tutorials that combine real-life examples of organic chemistry, human health and popular culture. Garg has won a number of awards for his teaching and research, including the Royal Society of Chemistry teaching award, the Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Award for Exemplary Contributions to Education and Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching California Professor of the Year.
