Three UCLA researchers have been selected to receive 2015 Air Force Young Investigator awards from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

Shu-Wei Huang, a postdoctoral scholar in the department of electrical engineering, Christopher Holbrook of the department of anthropology and Wen Li of the department of atmospheric sciences are among 57 scientists nationwide selected to receive more than $16.6 million in grants.

The Air Force Young Investigator Award is given to researchers who have received a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the past five years and who have a commitment to upholding innovation in basic research. The program's objectives are to galvanize creativity in basic research methods, further the professional development of early-career investigators and provide increased opportunities for research that aligns with the Air Force's mission and related challenges in science and engineering.
