Steven Christensen recently received the 2016 Young Architect Award from The Architect's Newspaper for his work on the headquarters of Venafi. The award, part of the publication's best of design awards, honors one practice nationwide, selected by jury members who based their judgements on evidence of innovation, creative use of new technology, sustainability, strength of presentation, and, most importantly, great design.
Christensen is an architect and professor at UCLA. Before joining UCLA in 2012, he taught graduate courses in design, drawing, construction and urbanism at the University of Michigan. Christensen holds a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Utah. His teaching and research draw from his experience in both disciplines.
His work is focused on the relationship between form and perception. Christensen is the principal of Steven Christensen Architecture, an emerging practice based in Santa Monica.
