Dr. James Cherry, distinguished research professor of pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA with an expertise in pediatric infectious diseases, especially bordatella pertussis, the bacterium that causes whooping cough. Cherry has more than 40 years of experience in research, teaching, and clinical practice in the fields of infectious diseases and epidemiology.
Cherry, who is also an attending physician of pediatric infectious diseases at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA, is a passionate advocate for immunization strategies against the illness, particularly vaccinations.
