Ron Avi Astor is the Marjory Crump Professor of Social Welfare at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and holds a joint appointment at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
He is an expert on bullying and school violence, including cyberbullying, discrimination, weapons and shootings, emotional abuse, sexual harassment and teacher-child violence. His work documents the influences of families, communities, schools and culture on various forms of school-related bullying and violence.
Astor’s research has encompassed tens of thousands of schools and millions of students, teachers, parents and administrators. Over the past 20 years, findings from his studies have been published in more than 200 scholarly manuscripts.
