Thomas Rice is professor of health policy and management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
He is an economist who has studied physicians' economic behavior, health insurance for the elderly, the Medicare program, health care cost containment, the role of competition in health care reform, and managed care.
Rice has testified before the U.S. Congress numerous times and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. He has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for his work with the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
