Amada Armenta is associate faculty director of the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute and an associate professor of urban planning at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. She is also joint faculty in the department of sociology.

Armenta’s research examines the connections between the immigration enforcement system and the criminal justice system, and the implications of this connection for immigrants, bureaucracies and cities. She authored “Protect, Serve and Deport: The Rise of Policing as Immigration Enforcement” (2017).
