Robin Kelley

Robin D. G. Kelley is a distinguished professor of history and the Gary B. Nash Endowed Chair in United States history and an authority on the history of African-American intellectuals and musicians, the black working class, the African diaspora, and constructions of race. Kelley is also an expert on intellectual and cultural history (particularly music and visual culture), how modern jazz figured in the formation of a modern African identity and contemporary urban studies.

Kelley has also studied the history of social, labor and radical movements in the United States. His scholarship also includes poverty studies and ethnography and colonialism and imperialism.
