UCLA police today released an artist’s sketch of a suspect who displayed a handgun to a student in Westwood early Friday.
The incident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. Friday as a female student was walking south on the 400 block of Landfair Avenue, campus police said in a crime alert. The suspect lifted his shirt, displaying a handgun that was tucked in his waistband, police said. The student fled, and the suspect was last seen running west toward Midvale Avenue.
The suspect was described as a man of Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent, approximately 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall with a stocky build. He had brown, medium-length hair and facial stubble and was wearing a white, collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans and white basketball shoes.
Police said they are increasing patrols in the area.
