Emily Scivoletto will join the UCLA School of Law as dean of students on Aug. 14, coming from the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law.

“We are delighted to welcome Emily Scivoletto to UCLA School of Law,” said Dean Rachel F. Moran. “She is a national leader in student services, and her extensive experience will be invaluable in helping all of our students succeed academically and professionally during their time at UCLA Law.”

Scivoletto served as the dean of students at USD since 2010, where she oversaw approximately 1,000 J.D. students, providing them with support in meeting their academic goals and achieving success in law school classes and on the bar exam. In addition, she was responsible for academic advising, handling accommodations of students with disabilities, resolving student grievances, supervising student organizations and organizing all aspects of orientation and commencement.

“I am honored to join UCLA School of Law as the next dean of students,” Scivoletto said. “I look forward to working with Dean Moran and the entire UCLA Law community to enhance the student experience and assist students in their professional development.”

Scivoletto previously taught doctrinal and skills courses at UC Davis School of Law, where she served as director of academic success. She also served as director of academic success and educational outreach at Pacific McGeorge School of Law. Prior to entering academia, she was an associate, and later a partner, at Tennant, Ingram & Randon in Sacramento, where she handled insurance defense and civil rights litigation cases.

Scivoletto currently serves as the chair of the American Association of Law Schools Section on Student Services (AALA), and she served as a member of the executive board from 2011-2014. She also served, from 2011-2013, as program chair of the AALS Section on Academic Support and as awards committee chair in 2012.

Scivoletto holds a J.D. from Pacific McGeorge School of Law, an M.A. in education from California State University Sacramento and a B.A.  from UC Irvine
