Patricia Turner, dean and vice provost of undergraduate education, has been appointed senior dean of the UCLA College, UCLA Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh announced today. She began serving a two-year term on July 1,

In addition to leading their divisions, the five UCLA College deans share responsibility for college-wide issues and functions. As senior dean, Turner will continue her leadership of the Division of Undergraduate Education and will also coordinate the deans’ shared responsibilities, including:

  • Convening the UCLA College deans and leadership as needed for planning, budgeting and decision-making on college-wide issues and policies;
  • Ensuring that staff for the Office of the Deans receive appropriate supervision and support;
  • Working with College Development on all aspects of fundraising that cut across the divisions;
  • Representing the UCLA College on campus, systemwide and externally.

Since joining UCLA in 2013, Turner has proven to be a highly effective leader, with a special talent for bringing people together in the pursuit of academic excellence, Waugh said. "The chancellor and I look forward to working with Pat to ensure that the College remains UCLA’s strong and vital academic hub," he said.
