After seven months of negotiations, UCLA and Teamsters Local 2010 reached agreement on a new five-year contract for UCLA’s 600 skilled trades workers. The members ratified the agreement on April 5.
The contract lasts until June 2022. The last salary increase these employees had received was in 2012.
Highlights of the new contract include:
- 12.5 percent wage increase
- $2,000 to each employee hired on or before Oct. 16, 2012 and $1,000 to each non-probationary career employee hired after Oct. 16, 2012
- 3 percent wage increase on July 1, 2017, and subsequent 3 percent wage increases in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, for a combined salary increase of 27.5 percent during the term of the agreement
In addition, UCLA and Teamsters Local 2010 settled an outstanding unfair practice charge and grievance.
“We’re extremely pleased that the parties reached an agreement that recognizes the important contributions these employees make to UCLA while reflecting the fiscal limitations we face,” said Administrative Vice Chancellor Michael Beck, whose duties include oversight of facilities management and housing and hospitality services, where most of the skilled trades employees work. “These talented employees provide vital service to campus and to UCLA Health, and are an important part of the Bruin community. We thank them for their continued dedication to UCLA.”
