Mason Porter, professor of applied mathematics in the UCLA College, has been selected by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics to join its 2019 class of SIAM fellows.

Fellows are are nominated for their research as well as service to the community. Through their contributions, SIAM Fellows help advance the fields of applied mathematics and computational science.

Porter’s research interests include various areas of applied mathematics, and some of his previous research papers have focused on the topics of nonlinear science, granular media and quantum chaos.
