UCLA Film and Television Archive will showcase the Australian film, "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," as part of the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project on Thursday, Dec. 12, 7:30 pm. at the Hammer Museum's Billy Wilder Theater.

The archive says of the film: "Writer-director Stephan Elliott’s 1994 breakaway hit finds three drag performers of different ages, piloting a private party bus ('Priscilla') across the bush of central Australia, heading for a nightclub gig. They encounter adventures and some dangers that underline their place in the world and deepen their bond. Their stage performances, set to pop tunes of the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, are beyond belief."

In 2005, the archive partnered with Outfest, which was founded at UCLA in 1982, to create the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project for LGBT Moving Image Preservation. It is the largest publicly accessible collection of LGBT films in the world — a vital resource for students, faculty and researchers interested in LGBT moving images.
