UCLA has earned the top spot on Money’s list of “10 Best Colleges for Transfer Students.”
The rankings, which were published today, highlight four-year universities where transfer students are succeeding in large numbers. University of California schools dominate the ranking with five listed. Among them are UC Berkeley (No. 2), UC San Diego is (6), UC Santa Barbara (7) and UC Irvine (8).
UCLA, which graduates 90 percent of its transfer students within four years, enrolls more transfer students than any other UC campus. A full third of its undergraduate population is made up of transfer students.
In addition, for its work with transfer students UCLA has been noted as an exemplar institution by the American Talent Initiative, which has partnered with the country’s leading colleges and universities to attract, retain and graduate an additional 50,000 students from low- and moderate-income backgrounds by 2025. ATI released its annual impact report today highlighting successes from its first two years.
UCLA offers a robust menu of services and resources designed to assist UCLA transfer students. Among them are the Center for Community College Partnerships, the Academic Advancement Program, the Summer Intensive Transfer Experience, the transfer experience living learning community, Bruin Day for Transfer Students, the Transfer Student Center and the First to Go program. In addition, the financial aid office works with transfer students to maximize their financial support through various sources, including scholarships.
