More than 1,000 high school and college students from across the United States descended last weekend on UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion to plug into LA Hacks, a collaborative computer programming event organized by two UCLA student groups and sponsored by LA 2024.
Local dignitaries hosted Thomas Bach as he visited campus facilities at UCLA, which has been selected as the site for the Olympic Village in the city of Los Angeles’ bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
At a campus press conference Monday, LA 2024 officials said they were drawn to UCLA’s newly built and recently renovated residence halls featuring modern design, spacious layouts, social gathering places and the latest technology.
