UCLA Chancellor Gene Block and Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Anna Spain Bradley issued a statement condemning anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination.
Anti-Semitism has no place in our community. The recent attacks in Los Angeles and throughout the country have highlighted concerns about the rising violence and bigotry against Jewish people and have left Jewish Bruins feeling targeted, vulnerable and concerned for their safety. Being attacked or discriminated against because of one’s identity is a violation of our human rights and the hopes we all have for a community that provides dignity for all.
We condemn anti-Semitism, as we continue to condemn all forms of discrimination in the midst of a disturbing rise in hate crimes across America. We are reminded, yet again, that we must continue to work to prevent such harms, holding people accountable for behavior that disrupts our community and violates our values. We stand against violence and hatred targeting any member of our community.
At UCLA, our commitment to inclusion means we can never allow hatred or discrimination to prevail. We thrive because we are a community united through our shared values, which in turn guide our actions. Anyone who experiences discrimination and/or harassment in our community should report it to our Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. For Bruins seeking support, counseling services are available for students through UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services; and employees through UCLA’s Staff and Faculty Counseling Center.
