UCLA issued the following statement in response to a lawsuit brought by UCLA Anderson School of Management Lecturer Gordon Klein.
We want to be very clear about a core value shared by UCLA, UCLA Anderson and its leadership: We support instructors who demonstrate equity and fairness toward our students. Any suggestion to the contrary is false. Also, please understand that the university has detailed and consultative investigatory and disciplinary processes that are followed by our deans and other administrators.
Because this is pending litigation involving allegations that implicate personnel privacy, we can’t address Mr. Klein’s specific assertions without his express written permission. And we understand that unanswered questions can sometimes seem like answers themselves, unfortunately. But sometimes we must wait to share the facts in the proper forum, a court of law, and bear the possibility of being misunderstood in the court of public opinion. A deliberative process is what personnel issues deserve. We hope Bruins understand our current position and await the moment when we can share our side of the story.
