The one-day Women in Data Science Conference taking place Friday, Feb. 3, at Stanford University will be live-streamed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the IDRE Portal (5628 Math Sciences) on the UCLA campus. The conference aims to inspire and educate data scientists, regardless of gender, and support women in the field.

This one-day technical conference provides an opportunity to hear about the latest data science-related research in a number of domains, learn how leading-edge companies are leveraging data science for success and connect with potential mentors, collaborators and others in the field.

UCLA Women in Tech, which is hosting the gathering at UCLA, will also stage a lunchtime panel from noon to 1:30 p.m. featuring several UCLA data scientists, including:

  • Professor Wei Wang, Leonard Kleinrock Professor in Computer Science and Co-Director of the Scalable Analytics Institute, UCLA;
  • Anna Liza Antonio, Ph.D. student with the UCLA Department of Biostatistics;
  • Irina Kukuyeva, data science consultant with Slalom Consulting, who earned  her Ph.D. from the Department of Statistics at UCLA; and
  • Araz Khodabakhshian, moderator and Ph.D. student in decisions, operations and technology management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
