Mark your calendars for UCLA Transportation’s annual celebration of greener ways to commute, get around campus and explore LA, with events and giveaways all October.

No Bruin should have an un-bear-able commute when sustainable options can free them from frustrating traffic and parking, save money, improve air quality, help the community and lower greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why every October, UCLA Transportation promotes and celebrates Sustainable Transportation Month, showing students, staff and faculty how to be blue, gold and on the go differently than driving alone — and offering Bruins a chance to win great prizes by pledging to change one solo car trip.

Get moving and join the department in October for events, giveaways and to complete that pledge to walk, ride a bike, take public transportation, carpool or vanpool for a chance to win a two-night stay at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge, UCLA football tickets and gift cards for ASUCLA, Plateia restaurant at the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center, AMC Theatres and more.

In partnership with other campus departments and transportation agencies, Bruins are invited to discover more about getting around UCLA and LA sustainably — and to spin a wheel for additional prizes.

The monthlong celebration culminates with the Sustainable Transportation Fair on Oct. 22 in Bruin Plaza, featuring LA Metro, Bike LA, Culver City Bus, LADOT, Long Beach Transit, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, the UCLA Semel Healthy Campus Initiatives Center, UCLA Bike Shop, UCLA Commuter Support & Programs, and UCLA First Year Experience, along with others.

On-campus prize giveaways

  • Monday, Oct. 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Hill
  • Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Court of Sciences

Sustainable Transportation Fair

  • Thursday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bruin Plaza

By being blue, gold, and on the go on foot, by two wheels, catching the bus, or sharing the ride, that individual choice benefits other Bruins, community members, and the environment, supporting the No. 1 public university’s commitment to contributing to a more sustainable future.
