Ready to hang out with friends and meet new people after two years of pandemic life, Bruins lit up the dance floor on April 7 at “Neon Nights.” More than 5,000 UCLA students, staff, alumni and members of the local community gathered for the monthly “First Thursdays” event, which launched March 3, following an omicron-related delay.
UCLA developed First Thursdays with the Westwood Village Improvement Association to help forge stronger ties between the campus and the neighborhood, and to support Westwood businesses.
Each event kicks off in the afternoon at the Westwood farmers market, where Bruins can buy locally sourced foods and chat about career opportunities with UCLA alumni from various fields at the Mentor Café. In the evening, a block party featuring themed activities, music, food and giveaways takes over Broxton Avenue, which is closed off to traffic. Come join the fun — admission to all First Thursdays events is free.
